Angela Merkel visits the DAI Heidelberg
On Thursday, September 25, 2025, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel will accept the invitation of the German-American Institute (DAI) Heidelberg to read from “Freiheit. Memories 1954-2021”.
“As a cultural center dedicated to the promotion of democracy and international understanding, we are particularly pleased to welcome Angela Merkel and to host this event with her. Her visit is a strong sign of what drives us every day: an open society based on solidarity and a strong, lively debate,” says DAI Director Lena Jöhnk.
Admission to the Neue Aula opens on September 25 at 5:30 pm and the event ends at around 8:30 pm. There is free seating.
Advance ticket sales
The DAI is granting its approximately 4,000 members exclusive advance ticket sales for 50 percent (approx. 350 seats) of the ticket contingent. This starts on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 13:00. DAI members can purchase tickets for 29.90 euros at all known Reservix advance booking offices or online at dai-heidelberg.de – while stocks last. A valid membership card is required. A maximum of two tickets can be purchased per booking.
Please have your membership number (in the format MIT-12345; including letters, hyphen and digits) ready when purchasing tickets; you will find this on your membership card.
When purchasing online, simply enter your membership number in the “Promotional code” field to access the ticket selection or state it at the respective advance booking office when you are asked for a “Promotional code”.
You can then select the appropriate price category and number of tickets and complete your purchase.
One week later, on Tuesday, July 15, at 13:00, the public pre-sale will start. Tickets can also be purchased for 39.90 euros (reduced price 34.90 euros) at all known Reservix advance booking offices and online at dai-heidelberg.de. Here too, a maximum of two tickets can be purchased per booking.
