We are happy to support all activities that improve the contact between Germany and the USA. In this sense, the DAI, under the strong leadership of Jakob Köllhofer, plays a leading role. His connections make it possible for experts to give lectures that familiarise me with the background and direction of politics, finance, culture, climate and economics. At the DAI I especially appreciate the personal contact and the range of information sources. In small groups, at the regular lunch lectures, one gets to know ambassadors, professors, authors and journalists, who allow open discussions for a more balanced personal formation of opinion. A highlight for me was a DAI trip to Strasbourg, where I could hear President Obama and shake his hand. I consider events that deal seriously and impartially with the US/Germany issues of our day to be worthy of support, on the basis of expert knowledge and scientific facts. Ute Bujard “IVY Membership – the special DAI membership. This offer from the dai convinces me. The good work of the DAI to provide more opportunities and more scope should be the concern of all those who can afford it and who are interested in intensive intercultural dialogue. This membership is a matter close to my heart. I have not hesitated to become an IVY member and I hope that many will support my decision.” Prof. Dr. Dietrich Götze “I have actively supported the DAI since September 2001, but I have a long history with the house. As early as 1949 we loved the DAI – there was everything we didn’t have – including English courses. The DAI represented a country that we admired and to which our parents were grateful. Years later I came to the conclusion that what the USA and American civilization taught us is immeasurable – we were given freedom and perspective. Today – as in the beginning – the DAI is not only the bearer of American culture, but has also developed into a broad-based house of education and culture. I consider the programme to have been exceptionally successful. In its entirety it serves many interests of different generations. I especially like the lunchtime encounters and the evening discussions on burning topics, presented or moderated by experts. I consider the bilingual kindergarten and the AGs and workshops for young people to be particularly worthy of support.” Dr. Dieter Haarmann “I support and recommend the IVY membership in the DAI. I know that this trust is excellently invested in the DAI. In the Dai we learn every day that the USA is bigger than its respective government, that there is the great America and other America. I’m grateful to this America. Without America, our country would not have risen after World War II. I am thrilled by the farsightedness and friendliness with which the DAI does its work.”
