Interns (f/m/d) in the DAI Library department
The German-American Institute (DAI) Heidelberg is a non-profit cultural institution that provides information about social, political and cultural developments on both sides of the Atlantic. Our work includes lectures, seminars, concerts, films, exhibitions and a wide range of educational programs – including our own language school and a public English-language library.
About the DAI Library:
The DAI Heidelberg Library is the only public English-language library in the entire region and forms the historical core of the institute. It is a lively place of encounter, cultural exchange and enthusiasm for literature – with a wide range of media and a varied program of events for children and adults.
We are regularly looking for year-round interns (f/m/d) to support our library for three months.
Activities
- Preparing and cataloging new media for the library collection
- Putting away and sorting returned media
- Working at the service desk: Borrowing, returning and advising
- Assisting with the preparation and implementation of library events
- Putting together themed book displays
- Content creation for our social media channels (e.g. book recommendations, announcements of new acquisitions)
Your profile
- Interest in literature, culture and library work
- Very good linguistic skills and a confident command of the German language
- Good knowledge of English
- Careful, structured and independent way of working
- Confident handling of common Office programs
- Open-mindedness, ability to work in a team and communication skills
- Creativity and interest in social media
We offer varied and practical insights into the work of a modern library in an open, committed team.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a salary.
