Interns (f/m/d) in the DAI Library department

The German-American Institute (DAI) Heidelberg is a non-profit cultural institution that provides information about social, political and cultural developments on both sides of the Atlantic. Our work includes lectures, seminars, concerts, films, exhibitions and a wide range of educational programs – including our own language school and a public English-language library.

About the DAI Library:
The DAI Heidelberg Library is the only public English-language library in the entire region and forms the historical core of the institute. It is a lively place of encounter, cultural exchange and enthusiasm for literature – with a wide range of media and a varied program of events for children and adults.

We are regularly looking for year-round interns (f/m/d) to support our library for three months.

Activities

  • Preparing and cataloging new media for the library collection
  • Putting away and sorting returned media
  • Working at the service desk: Borrowing, returning and advising
  • Assisting with the preparation and implementation of library events
  • Putting together themed book displays
  • Content creation for our social media channels (e.g. book recommendations, announcements of new acquisitions)

Your profile

  • Interest in literature, culture and library work
  • Very good linguistic skills and a confident command of the German language
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Careful, structured and independent way of working
  • Confident handling of common Office programs
  • Open-mindedness, ability to work in a team and communication skills
  • Creativity and interest in social media

We offer varied and practical insights into the work of a modern library in an open, committed team.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a salary.

We look forward to receiving meaningful applications (CV and letter of motivation) stating the desired internship period by e-mail to Ingrid Stolz: ies@dai-heidelberg.de!
