He who sows the wind
- Michael Lüders
- The impact of Western politics in the Orient
- Lecture
Any story can be seen in a different light depending on where we choose to begin telling it. Accordingly, anyone who wishes to understand the relationship which now exists between the West and Iran cannot afford to overlook the fall of the democratically elected Iranian Prime Minister Mosaddegh, a fall that was fully engineered by the CIA and MI6 in 1953. Unless we take the 2003 war in Iraq and the position that the West adopts in regard to Assad in Syria into account, it is impossible to understand the current success of the Islamic State (IS).
Michael Lüders describes the interventions made by the West in the Near and Middle East since the end of the colonial period and explains what this has to do with the current political situation.
For many years Lüders was the Near Eastern correspondent for the weekly newspaper, “DIE ZEIT”. He has first-hand experience of all of the countries in the region. Lüders often appears as a guest on radio and television programmes as an expert on the Near East.
