  • Creating a Learning Society
  • Max von Sponeck
  • Social Activity

Plato coined the phrase “unexplored life”, which is not worth living. In his work “Continent without Qualities”, Peter Sloterdijk speaks of the possibility of interpreting Europe as a “self-reinforcing learning context“. Accumulating learning and the importance of transgenerational information flows have generally been emphasized in anthropology and the philosophy of biology over the last 20 years as an absolutely crucial characteristic of human beings. And finally, as the economist Joseph Stiglitz notes, the growth and development of countries are heavily dependent on learning processes, so governments need to ask themselves what parameters need to be created for a “learning society”.

In this series, topics that are currently of particular concern to our society will be examined in a relaxed atmosphere. Based on a current text, we will discuss these issues and look to philosophy for inspiration and perhaps even answers.
