Theater Carnivore – Touring stage

  • Romeo and Juliet - potato theater
  • Literature, Theatre

“A potato-themed romp based on the great classic of dramatic love literature, using Shakespeare’s text, with missing passages supplemented by Florian Kaiser.” (Theater Carnivore)

This is gripping theater, not only for the potatoes, which, now torn from the earth, have only one destiny: the stage! But not all of them will make it onto the tabletop that represents the world: too many share the fate of the three-pound net and wait for the all-important audition, the casting! This takes place before each performance – and ultimately the audience chooses the young lover and the young ingénue. And then asks: What is love? Affection? Fate? Who gives us more space for love than potatoes? What could be more profound than the love of two potatoes when they emerge from the earth above ground?

Theater Carnivore is now in its eleventh year of delighting audiences in all kinds of unusual locations with consistently extraordinary plays. Its principal is the actor and author Florian Kaiser, who recently founded Theaterverlag Heidelberg with Marcus Imbsweiler.
