The new Military Service Act

  • Young voices on the military service debate - Between peace, duty and self-determination
  • In dialogue

The new “Military Service Modernization Act” has been in force since the beginning of the year. What does this mean for young people in Germany? And how do those who are directly affected by possible changes view it? Different perspectives come together in the interactive fishbowl format: Critics and supporters discuss with each other – and especially with young people. Do we take our peace too much for granted? Does the state demand more from the younger generation than it offers itself? And what is it worth taking responsibility for? In addition to a youth officer, former conscientious objectors and young entrepreneurs, pupils from Heidelberg also have their say. They describe their views on the Bundeswehr as an institution and on security policy in a geopolitically tense time. The audience can get involved at any time and become part of the debate.
