The clown said no
- A concert for the whole family
- Martin Bärenz
- International Children's Book Festival, Literature, Program for children
Nothing like this has ever happened before! Every evening, Petronius, the funniest clown in the world, stands in the ring with the stubborn donkey Theodor and delights the audience. But today he says no. He doesn’t enjoy playing the fool. He would much rather tell stories – for children and poets! Theodor and other animals follow him to realize their dream of having their own circus, where no one is forced to perform a trick.
Heidelberg composer Martin Bärenz has turned Mischa Damjan’s classic picture book The Clown Said No into a children’s opera – naturally with music for a circus band with clarinet, trumpet, trombone, double bass, piano and drums. There is also a sing-along song that the audience can easily learn and sing along to. The narrator is the singer and actress Ilona Schulz.
