“I know what you want,” he said. “You’re not getting it.”

Muna loves Magnus. It’s hard to say whether Magnus loves him and who he loves. What happens to a life lived in dependence on another? Muna is about to graduate from high school when she meets Magnus, a French teacher and photographer. She spends a night with him. He disappears when the Wall comes down. Only years later do the two meet again and become a couple. Muna believes she has found her home in her relationship with Magnus. Cracks soon appear and over the years the coldness, unpredictability and violence only increase. But Muna is not willing to give up.

Terézia Mora, born in Hungary in 1971, moved to Berlin to study after the political change in Hungary in 1990. She has received many awards, including the German Book Prize and the Büchner Prize. She grew up bilingual in Hungarian and German and writes exclusively in German. She is also one of the most renowned translators from Hungarian.
