  • Exhibition about Eric Karsentis Expedition
  • Geist Heidelberg, Vernissage

The schooner Tara sailed the world’s oceans for three years undertaking research to understand the impact of climate change on the huge variety of diverse organisms commonly known as plankton. “From viruses and larvae to jellyfish, fish and corals – the scientists set out to explore the ecosystem that forms the basis of the marine food chain in a holistic approach”, says Eric Karsenti, EMBL senior scientist and scientific director of the Tara Oceans expedition.

This exhibition outlines the scientific objectives of the Tara Oceans project and explains how samples could be consistently collected during this adventurous expedition. The exhibition focuses particularly on new knowledge currently brought to light by the analysis of those samples and underlines the importance of these scientific results for future research on climate change.

The exhibition will be open to the public until November 27.

In cooperation with EMBL Heidelberg and Tara Expeditions
