Homemade porn and the exploration of sexual practice.
Filming oneself having sex is a widespread but poorly researched practice. In his research project The Practices of Amateur Pornography, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), sociologist Sven Lewandowski analyzes amateur pornographic videos and interviews people who film themselves having sex together. In this way, not only the motives of the actors can be explored, but also the actual sexual practice, to which sexual research normally has no direct access. In addition to private sexual practice, media practices are also researched, i.e. how people film themselves having sex.
Sven Lewandowksi, who holds a doctorate in sociology, is head of the research project “The Practices of Amateur Pornography” at Bielefeld University.
