Extremist ideologies are gaining more and more supporters, opinions expressed online are becoming increasingly radical – the targeted infiltration of democratic structures is a significant challenge for our constitutional state. Stephan J. Kramer explains how the Office for the Protection of the Constitution assesses the current threat situation and how it deals with threats to our security. What strategies do the authorities use to prevent radicalization? And how can security work remain both transparent and democratic? As President of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Thuringia, Kramer calls for a clear stance towards anti-constitutional tendencies.
