Rolf Steltemeier, Karin Nordmeyer & Jan Dirk Herbermann

  • (Un)united nations
  • What else can the UN do?
  • In dialogue

In the face of global crises and a simultaneous crisis of multilateralism, the United Nations (UN) is facing particular challenges – whether it is the preservation of peace and security, the promotion of human rights or international cooperation. In a world that is drifting apart into several large power blocs and is increasingly dominated by nationalism and populism, the UN is having a hard time. To what extent does the UN stand in its own way institutionally? Do we still need the UN? What can it still achieve? What structural reforms could make the UN more effective again?

With:
Prof. Dr. Rolf Steltemeier, Director of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization Germany
Karin Nordmeyer, Honorary Chairwoman of the UN Women National Committee Germany
Jan Dirk Herbermann, long-time correspondent from the UN headquarters in Geneva
