Bruno Siciliano

Robots on Mars, in the oceans, in hospitals, at home, in factories or in schools; robots are now capable of putting out fires, of producing goods, of saving time, and even lives. Today it is almost impossible not to make use of them! In the future, the use of robots will be as widespread as the use of computers is today.

The dream of creating intelligent machines has existed as long as mankind. Robotics already plays a role in a huge variety of fields, including biomechanics, haptics, neuroscience and surgery, and such instances of implementation are not ceasing to increase. In his lecture, Bruni Siciliano takes a look back at the last 50 years of robotics research. He will describe the latest trends and provide insight into the future of this field.

Bruno Siciliano is Professor for Robotics and Director of the PRISMA Laboratory at the Insitute for Electrotechnology and Information Technology at the Univeristy of Naples Frederico II. His research particularly focuses on force control and visual robot control, human-robot interaction and flight and service robotics.
