  • Lecture

After 20 to 25 years of relative stability, the liberal democrats in both Hungary and Poland are increasingly the target of attacks aimed at transforming their political systems into more authoritarian ones. These developments have different backgrounds, but what they have in common is the frequency, strength and public nature of the attacks.

In his lecture, Radoslaw Markowski will trace the causes of these trends in Poland and Hungary and outline possible scenarios and consequences for Europe and the world.

Professor Dr. Markowski has been Director of the Polish National Voting Survey since 1995, and is currently Dean of the Seminar for Comparative Political Science at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities in Warsaw, was well as the author of several bestsellers.
