Paul Maar & the Sams Trio

  • The sorceress's daughter
  • Literature, Program for children

Mrs. Schmitt is the epitome of an evil sorceress: she is bad-tempered and mean and loves to conjure up bad things like floods, forest fires or erasers that tear holes in notebooks. Her 11-year-old daughter Fizzi is quite different. But above all, Fizzi has nothing to do with magic. “That can’t be right!” exclaims Mrs. Schmitt and whisks Fizzi away to the in-between world – and her eternally nagging husband along with her. But the in-between world isn’t so scary after all and Fizzi soon discovers that she too has little magical powers.

Sams inventor Paul Maar is joined by two well-known musicians, guitarist and percussionist Wolfgang Stute and all-round musician Konrad Haas, who plays the flute, saxophone and keyboard. Together they tell Fizzi’s story – with lots of humor and rousing music.

Paul Maar is considered one of the most successful German authors of books for children and young people. With more than six million books sold, the Sams volumes are Maar’s most successful children’s book series.

Wolfgang Stute, founder of the MAREA project, composer, producer, guitarist and percussionist, has released numerous CDs. He has been the musical director for more than 30 different musicals and theaters. In 2013, he and cabaret artist Matthias Brodowy were awarded the German Cabaret Prize at the Unterhaus in Mainz.

Konrad Haas, founding member of the band Steinwolke, gives concerts or conducts as musical director with various orchestras, theater, opera, fairy tale or musical performances. He has written, composed, arranged and directed more than 50 stage productions.

Note: The program is aimed at families and children. Paul Maar will be performing his program for adults on Saturday, 21 September at 8 pm.
