Ordnung im Chaos

How do complex structures develop from simple regularities and what are the fundamental laws which govern them? How has life, both complex and resilient in the face of environmental effects, developed? How does the brain function? Can scientific descriptions of complex systems also be applied to manmade systems; to society, to the economy or to historical events?

This podium discussion will shed light on the nature of research being carried out into complex systems. This area has developed dramatically in the last few years, and now offers some spectacular insights, but also throws up new unknowns.
