The world is becoming ever more complex and our worldviews are constantly having to adapt to new circumstances. The desire to simplify our lives is growing – but what if we have to learn to deal with this rapid change? Will our limited and eclectic brains be enough to survive in the future? Philosopher Gert Scobel joins neuroscientists Hannah Monyer and Wolf Singer to discuss the possibilities and limitations of our brains and the importance of social and cultural factors for human mental development.

Gert Scobel is a philosopher, journalist, television presenter and author of books such as Between Good and Evil: Philosophy of the Radical Middle (2021) and Heuristics of Political Decision-Making (2022).

Prof. Dr. Hannah Monyer is Medical Director of the Department of Clinical Neurobiology at Heidelberg University Hospital. She received the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize in 2004.

Prof. Dr. Wolf Singer is Director Emeritus of the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt and Founding Director of the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies, the Brain Imaging Center, the Ernst Strüngmann Science Forum and the Ernst Strüngmann Institute, also in Frankfurt.
