Aladin El-Mafaalani analyses from different perspectives the paradoxical effects of the education system, its dynamics and its inertia: A plea for placing social inequality in education in the focus of educational policy and practice, and at the same time a rejection of visions and revolutions. What is important and realistic now?

Aladin EI-Mafaalani, born 1978, is Professor of Educational Science and holds the Chair of Education in the Migration Society at the University of Osnabrück. After studying political science, economics and labour science, he obtained a doctorate in sociology, worked as a teacher at the Berufskolleg Ahlen, as a professor of political science at the Münster University of Applied Sciences and head of department at the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry for Children, Family, Refugees and Integration in Düsseldorf.
