Musical Sunday
- Three female composers from three eras
- Marcus Imbsweiler & Timo Jouko Herrmann
- Literature
In three short portraits, Marcus Imbsweiler and Timo Jouko Herrmann present three extraordinary female musicians from different eras: Bruchsal-born glass harmonica virtuoso Marianne Kirchgessner, a contemporary of Mozart, and the recently rediscovered Romantic composer Emilie Mayer, who was highly regarded in her day as the “female Beethoven”, as well as the Czech composer and conductor Vítězslava Kaprálová, who died aged just 25 and left behind an impressive œuvre despite her short life.
Two music enthusiasts dive deep into the respective works with the audience: Marcus Imbsweiler is a writer and musicologist; Timo Jouko Herrmann composes, plays the violin and is guest conductor of the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra. They published the conversations of the first twenty Musical Sundays in their joint book Beziehungszauber. Classical masterpieces under the magnifying glass.
