Musical Sunday Sun, 10th July 2022, 11:00 am Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Quintet in E flat major KV 452 & Trio in E flat major KV 498 Marcus Imbsweiler & Timo Jouko Herrmann Literature Mozart described his representative quintet for piano and winds as “the best thing I have written in my life”. In this richly colored work, unique in its instrumentation up to that time, he found an ideal balance between concertante and chamber music style. The so-called Kegelstatt Trio, on the other hand, fascinates with its more intimate overall character and the early romantic sound combination of clarinet, viola and piano. Here are two enthusiasts who have their very own linguistic approach to music. Marcus Imbsweiler has previously published novels and stories about composers from Haydn to Shostakovich. Timo Jouko Herrmann is guest conductor of the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra; his rediscovery of the song of joy Per la ricuperata salute di Ofelia, composed by Salieri, Mozart and Cornetti, made him famous worldwide.
