Director: Alice Guy-Blaché I USA, France 1896 – 1912 I 60 min
Alice Guy-Blaché was a pioneer of narrative cinema and the world’s first female film director. With her first film, La Fée aux Choux, in 1896, she made the first fictional film ever. Her short films combine humor, fantasy and social observation with technical innovation. She experimented with double exposure, trick shots and color effects – always with the aim of touching and surprising the audience.
