It’s been 30 years since bassist Martin Wind packed his bags and moved from northern Germany to New York—a move that would change his life in every way. Today, he is one of the few German musicians who have permanently established themselves in the melting pot that is the Big Apple: The sought-after bassist, composer, and educator is highly regarded for his warm, multifaceted sound and his musicality. “September,” the new album by his Gravity Trio, is a musical statement about new beginnings, change, and gratitude—a dialogue between continents, generations, and musical temperaments.
To mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, the DAI and the Heidelberg Jazz Club are jointly hosting this evening.
