The crisis of liberal democracy and the spread of populism follow the pattern of a self-abolition of man. The discourse on artificial intelligence and the unrestrained digitalisation further intensify this fatal development. But despite all the current setbacks: humanity is capable of moral progress. In his committed book, Markus Gabriel, Germany’s most famous contemporary philosopher worldwide, shows why there are non-negotiable, universal basic values that apply to all people.
It shows: We urgently need an innovative concept of cooperation between science, politics and business in order to design a social system that aims for moral progress.

Prof. Dr. Markus Gabriel, born in 1980, teaches at the Chair of Epistemology, Philosophy of Modern and Contemporary Times at the University of Bonn and has been Director of the International Center for Philosophy in Bonn since 2012.

In the context of the International Science Festival – Geist Heidelberg.
