Ludwig Janus
- Why war?
- Reflections of a psychologist
- Lecture
On February 24, 2022, Putin launches a war of aggression against Ukraine in violation of international law. Negotiations and agreements are hardly possible.
Time and again, therefore, the question arises: Why are we waging war at all?
Public discourse is entirely limited to the domination aspects of war; psychological and psycho-historical aspects are left out. Without taking them into account, the events of war cannot be understood.
Ludwig Janus sees this as a special challenge for cultural scientists. In his lecture, he will show what role socialization conditions – the influence of the family on the development of beliefs, attitudes and behavior – play in the emergence of war.
Dr. Ludwig Janus studied psychology and medicine in Munich, Essen and Göttingen. Since 1975 he has worked as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in his own practice in Heidelberg.
