Live forever or survive?

  • Christof von Kalle, Giovanni Maio & Stephan Lessenich
  • Geist Heidelberg, In dialogue

The multiple crises of our time challenge science precisely in terms of its ideas about progress and the future. On the one hand, the survival of all is at stake, on the other hand, rather elitist projects of life-prolonging medicine, eternal health and the optimization of survival chances. Is (life) science a “resource for the future”? For what kind of society? Are there priorities here? Egalitarian survival or elitist eternity?
