Kurt Flasch

  • Voltaire - Where is reason?
  • Geist Heidelberg, Lecture

Philosophy is regarded as the supreme discipline of reason. However, it has repeatedly shown that the rule of reason is characterized by crises and conflicts.
In his book Kampfplätze der Philosophie – Große Kontroversen von Augustin bis Voltaire, Kurt Flasch traces the debates of great thinkers, which are once again highly topical in this crisis: How can one think philosophically in times of crisis? How can the crisis be mastered sensibly?

Kurt Flasch is Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the Ruhr University Bochum. The witty and entertaining lectures by “Germany’s most brilliant philosophical historian” (Die Welt) and “Germany’s most urban philosophical writer” (Süddeutsche Zeitung) are traditionally part of the International Science Festival – Geist Heidelberg.
