Will the USA remain a reliable political partner for Germany? Green politician and foreign policy expert Jürgen Trittin provides answers. He is certain that if we want to preserve the German-American relationship, we have to change it.
Jürgen Trittin, born in 1954, was a member of the Bundestag for Alliance 90/The Greens for 25 years before resigning his seat in January 2024. He was parliamentary group leader from 2009 to 2013 and a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee from 2014 to 2024, most recently as his group’s foreign policy spokesperson. He has been a member of the Greens since 1980 and held the office of Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety in the first red-green coalition at federal level from 1998 to 2005.
