Hike & Think: A changing world

  • Hike with lecture elements & discussion
  • Max von Sponeck & Carsten Dolbert
  • Social Activity

Never before (at least in peacetime) have so many accelerators of change been at work as right now: artificial intelligence, climate change and communication – to name just three – ensure that we have to constantly realign ourselves. Then there is the acceleration itself. Do we still understand where the journey is heading when developments are becoming increasingly unpredictable, and how do we find meaning in the current climate of volatility and increasing speed?

The DAI Library’s Philosophy Walks combine important philosophical topics with an extended walk in nature.

Language and communication are means of understanding the world, but also form the basis for understanding and cooperation. In times of populist governments, language is also in danger of becoming a powerful tool of division.

Dr. Max von Sponeck is a lecturer at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Heidelberg and at the Heidelberg University of Education. He specializes in the contemporary philosophy of mind.

Carsten Dolbert is a geoscientist by training. He works as a project coordinator, has trained as a systemic counselor and therapist and has been a volunteer in international disaster relief for many years.
