Online hostility is a reality for many people today. Female politicians are also increasingly the target of hate speech, which ranges from misogynistic insults to sexualized violence and death threats. Studies show the extent to which online hate speech is a burden on the lives and work of those affected and what the long-term effects are.

How can they defend themselves? Two experts show how people can protect themselves online and how perpetrators can be held accountable.

Anna-Lena von Hodenberg trained journalist and co-founder and CEO of HateAID, an organization that has significantly changed attitudes towards digital violence in Germany.
