Climate change, coronavirus, 5G radiation – scientific discourse is currently polarizing society enormously. Although access to knowledge is lower than ever before thanks to the internet, a section of society has lost trust in the (natural) sciences: findings that have already achieved factual status are being doubted or deliberately ignored. This separation of scientific and social rationality is a major problem: Harald Lesch doubts that our society can withstand the increasing mistrust in research in the long term. As a science communicator, his goal is therefore clear: to bring scientific knowledge back into the mainstream of society and rebuild trust in research.
