The South Korean pianist Geonhee Lee received his first piano lessons from his mother at the age of two. After his training at the Music Academy of the Seoul Art Center with Prof. Shim Moon, he continued his studies in the highly gifted class of the University of Music and Arts Vienna with Vladimir Kharin.
Lee has won prizes at numerous competitions, including the Steinway & Sons Piano Competition in Hamburg, Jenö Takasz Competition, Smetana International Piano Competition, Béla Bartók Competition in Graz, Euregio Piano Award and the 25th International Piano Competition for Spanish Composers in Madrid 2025 with the special prize for the best interpretation of Spanish music. Concert appearances have taken him to venues including the Berlin Philharmonie, Kosice State Philharmonic and Mozarthaus Vienna, where he has performed both as a soloist and with orchestras. Since 2021, Geonhee Lee has been studying at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media with Prof. Ewa Kupiec and, since the current semester, also with Prof. Paul Lewis.
Geonhee Lee plays works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Sergei Rachmaninoff at the DAI.
