General Ben Hodges & David Ranan

  • "David and Goliath" in global challenges
  • In dialogue

Former US military commander Ben Hodges and David Ranan, expert in intercultural communication, continue their debate on current global challenges: In their conversation, they discuss the current situation of the Middle East conflict, provide insights into Russia’s war against Ukraine and address possible consequences of the upcoming American presidential election. According to General Hodges, a Donald Trump victory would not only be worrying for the American people, but also for world politics and the resolution of global conflicts. While he examines security issues and military strategies from a pragmatic point of view, David Ranan expands the discourse to include a civilian perspective that focuses on intercultural and international communication.

General Ben Hodges studied at the US Military Academy and went through a career in the US Army from lieutenant to lieutenant general. From 2014 to 2017, he was Commander of the US Armed Forces in Europe. Since then, Hodges has served as a security policy analysis advisor to several institutions.

Dr. David Ranan is an Israeli-British-German author and cultural and political scientist. He studies the discourse of anti-Semitism in Germany and its politicization as well as anti-Semitism among Muslims.
