Frank Sieren

  • At home in China
  • Lecture

Frank Sieren talks to Manfred Osten about Germans who spend their lives in the booming Middle Kingdom.

They live between the cultures – often for decades. In most cases, their profession brought the “expatriots” to China and they stayed. They are no longer part of Germany – and yet they will never be Chinese. The constant change of perspective makes them cultural mediators. We can learn and benefit from the experiences of these contemporary witnesses – China’s rise, after all, also affects the future of Europe. Frank Sieren met and spoke with some of these “pioneers of globalization”.

Frank Sieren is one of Germany’s leading experts on China. The journalist, author and documentary filmmaker has lived in Beijing since 1994. He has written several bestsellers about China and has been a correspondent for various well-known magazines, including WirtschaftsWoche, as well as the author of numerous TV documentaries for ARD and ZDF.
