Europeans under discussion

  • The monopoly of power of the constitutional state and the Sharia - a contradiction?
  • Necla Kelek
  • In dialogue

Europeans in Conversation takes up the great salon tradition in Germany to discuss what can be circumscribed as European identity: Europe’s diversity yesterday and today.

The sociologist and author Necla Kelek analyses traditional Islamic ideas and their effect on the religiously tolerant constitutional state. In her books, she describes the patriarchy’s unbroken claim to superiority as the basis of an Islamic way of life as well as the basis of social power. Can a Taliban state also count on Western reconstruction aid?

Guest: Dr. Necla Kelek, sociologist and author
