Eric Carle Collage Workshop

  • International Children's Book Festival, Program for children, Workshop

Putting together something new from many individual parts, cutting, tearing, gluing – this is how collages are created. Even the search for materials becomes an adventure, promotes inspiration and gives rise to ideas that then flow into the work of art.

This collage workshop is based on the book and concept Collage Workshops for Kids (2020) by Shannon Merenstein, who was inspired by Eric Carle and his The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Together, this book was developed with museum educators from the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, Massachusetts. Special focus is placed on allowing children’s love of experimentation to run free. Discovering contrasts, spaces, colors, exploring nature, exploring different materials, storytelling – all of these are the focus here.

The program is free of charge. A donation is requested to cover expenses.
