Emily Haber & Steven Sokol

One year after Donald Trump took office, Emily Haber and Steven Sokol meet again at the DAI and critically assess the security and economic policy consequences of “America First” for Germany and Europe. They will discuss the new direction of US policy and its impact on democracy, the economy and international relations. The focus is on Trump’s confrontational style of government, the increasing social division in the USA and the question of what far-reaching changes his policies will bring to the global world order.

Dr. Emily Haberrepresented the Federal Republic of Germany as Ambassador to the USA from 2018 to 2023. The diplomat was the first woman to hold this position. She was State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior and State Secretary at the Federal Foreign Office.
