Penalties, the construction of a wall on the border with Mexico, the withdrawal from the Paris Convention and the pending impeachment procedure: Donald Trump does not look good, yet 54% of Americans expect a second term. The reason is the good economic situation.

The Super Tuesday of the upcoming presidential elections falls on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 – that is when the largest number of US states will hold primary elections and assemblies. On this day, potential candidates must do as well as possible to ensure that their party actually puts them in the race as presidential candidates.

Christoph von Marschall, who holds a doctorate in history and has been awarded several prizes, has been reporting from Washington as a correspondent for the Berlin Tagesspiegel since 2005. He analyses Super Tuesday 2020 and reflects on the results two days later.
