The UnAmericans
- Molly Antopol
Mary Antopol’s stories are constantly on the move. Her narratives flit between different settings and epochs; the McCarthy era plays out in Los Angeles, another storyline is set in Brooklyn before it continues in Kiev, all the while interweaving events from the past decades.
The stories penetrate into the lives of families; drawing the reader into various ideological and emotional worlds. It is with great ease that Antopol thematises the determination with which we search for love and happiness.
As a child, Molly Antopol, born in 1979, lived with her mother in a commune on the East coast of America. After completing her degree she worked in Israel for a Israeli-Palestinian human rights organisation. Today Antopol lives in San Francisco and lectures at Stanford University. She spends a third of the year in Israel.
