Danny Ramadan
- Foghorn's echo
- Literature
Ahmad Danny Ramadan, born in Damascus, is a Syrian-Canadian author, storyteller and LGBTQ refugee activist. His debut novel, The Clothesline Swing, won several awards. His new book Nebelhorn-Echos will be published in March , a stirring, literarily excellent novel about a queer and therefore hopeless love in Syria. It impressively depicts life between social norms and one’s own self-determination, between war traumas, flight and freedom.
“Foghorn Echoes is bursting with energy. It burns brightly […] This novel is a tender and passionate love story for a country, for a people and for all those who refuse to disappear quietly into the land of the forgotten.” (Maaza Mengiste)
The novel won the 2023 Lambda Award for Gay Fiction.
Danny Ramadan is also the author of the children’s books Salma, the Syrian Cook and At Salma’s House. He has been honored many times in Canada for his social activism. He lives with his husband in Vancouver.
