Everyone has the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment – and a healthy environment is essential for the realization of a wide range of human rights. In view of the manifold environmental threats to which humans and nature are exposed, there is therefore an urgent need for action. In his presentation, Daniel Magraw, an expert on environmental, human and international law, analyzes the immediate and long-term threats posed by climate change. He takes a look at both the present and the future to highlight the rights of current and future generations.

Daniel Magraw is president emeritus of the Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) and a lecturer and senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University. He has previously worked in the U.S. government, NGOs, intergovernmental organizations, private legal practice, and business and academia.
