Cordt Winkler

  • "I" is sometimes someone else
  • My Life with Schizophrenia
  • In dialogue, Literature

Cordt Winkler was in his early twenties when a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia fundamentally changed his life. Symptoms that he had observed in his father as a child now began to manifest in him as well: a breakdown in thought and perception, panic attacks, delusions of persecution, and hospitalizations. In an open and vivid account, he describes the dynamics of a psychotic crisis and offers insight into a world of experience that is almost impossible for many outsiders to comprehend. His book *I Am Sometimes Someone Else* highlights the challenges the illness poses for those affected and their loved ones, while also demonstrating that it is possible to live a good life with schizophrenia.

Cordt Winkler, born in 1980 not far from the Dutch border, studied media studies and works at a trend research agency. He lives in Berlin.
