Mission Anxiety?
- Dr. Knut Schnell
- In Dialogue with Psychiatry
Anxiety – a natural reaction. Anxiety can save lives. It can, however, equally be a debilitating illness. Although anxiety may take many forms, the broader mental and biological basis of this phenomenon has now been well researched.
In this lecture we will be defining anxiety. We will be explaining why some individuals are more likely to suffer from anxiety, how anxiety alters the way in which we process information, and the point at which it ceases to serve as a natural warning signal but becomes a mental disorder.
Dr Knut Schnell is the senior consultant for psychiatry and psychosocial medicine at the Heidelberg University Hospital.
