In the fall of 2024, the American presidential elections will take place, the outcome of which will determine the future of the country, but will also have a major impact on the whole world. Will the Democrats manage to push through their ideas of freedom and social responsibility against Donald Trump’s ideas of an extremely conservative society? Who will succeed in winning over people in the election campaign who have increasingly lost confidence in politics, the media and the economy? The uncertainty is so great that some groups no longer rule out violence as a political tool. US expert Arthur Landwehr traces the moods and expectations of US voters at the start of the primaries.

Arthur Landwehr, born in 1958, was an ARD radio correspondent in Washington for many years. From 2006 to 2018, he was Radio Editor-in-Chief at SWR. During his time in the USA, he closely followed the social development of the USA during the terms of office of Clinton, Bush, Trump and Biden. He was awarded the RIAS Radio Prize for his reporting.
