Press Officer (f/m/d)
The German-American Institute (DAI) Heidelberg is a renowned non-profit cultural center dedicated to promoting democracy and providing information about social, political and cultural events on both sides of the Atlantic. In addition to a comprehensive program – consisting of lectures, event series, seminars, discussions, readings in German and English, concerts, films and exhibitions – the DAI offers a wide range of educational opportunities, including a public English-language library and a language school.
We are looking for reinforcement for our interdisciplinary communications department as soon as possible:
Your tasks
- Media and target group-oriented preparation of topics for print and online
- Writing texts in a wide variety of formats, e.g. press releases, program texts, invitations, editorial texts, annual reports, information material, etc.
- Coordination of press activities as well as strategic planning, organization and implementation of target group-oriented communication measures in coordination with the department management
- Active and continuous expansion and maintenance of the press distribution list
- Collaboration in the cross-divisional event program, planning and implementation of in-house and external events
- Editorial and content-related support for the website and social media channels
- Creating the press review and general press-related and administrative tasks
- Friendly communication with cooperation partners and external service providers
- Supervision of interns
Your profile
- At least 2 years of professional experience in the field of press, corporate communications or similar, ideally in the cultural sector
- Completed studies with a focus on communication (German studies, journalism, communication and media studies or similar)
- Very confident in writing, very good verbal and written communication skills
- Confident, fast and accurate copywriting, editing and proofreading for a wide range of text types and media
- Good knowledge of regional and national media in the cultural sector
- High degree of independence, resilience and flexibility
- Very well-organized, independent and precise way of working
- Pronounced authentic cultural affinity and high loyalty
- Very good communication skills and good teamwork skills
- Willingness to work irregular hours (sometimes evenings and weekends)
- Very good written and spoken English skills
- Confident handling of MS Office
- Basic knowledge of working with CMS systems
