The Silent Book Club is a global community of readers and introverts, with more than 500 chapters in 50 countries around the world. Members and guests gather in public at bars, caf\u00e9s, bookstores, libraries, and online to read together in quiet camaraderie.<\/p>\n

The English Library at DAI Heidelberg is starting its chapter on May 2nd 2024. All interested readers are welcome to drop by every 4th Friday of the month for an hour of individual reading, followed by a glass of wine or tea and talk for those who want to.<\/p>\n

The Silent Book Club started in San Francisco in 2012 with a couple of friends, reading in companionable silence at a neighborhood bar. The idea behind it: The founders were looking for a book club where one could just enjoy books, friends, and drinks, without the pressure of \u201chomework\u201d.<\/p>\n

At The Silent Book Club, there’s no assigned reading. All readers and books are welcome \u2013 ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books… it’s \u201cBring Your Own Book\u201d \u2013 or pick one at the library.<\/p>\n
